Aunt Jemima frozen products recalled due to Listeria concerns

All “Best By” dates distributed nationally in the United States and one product in Mexico are affected. The recall includes products sent to grocery retailers and foodservice operators.

The recall applies only to the Aunt Jemima frozen products listed here.

The recall came after testing reportedly showed Listeria monocytogenes at a production plant, according to the AP.

There has been no illness reported and Pinnacle Foods is working with the Food and Drug Administration to rectify the situation. Affected consumers can return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Among those being recalled are the “lil’ Griddlers” pancakes, French toast and sausage meals and several lines of waffles.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and people with weakened immune systems.

Healthy people may suffer short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

The company said 18 products on USA shelves and one in Mexico would be recalled after tests found listeria in the frozen breakfasts foods.

Pregnant women are asked to exercise extra caution because the bacteria can cause premature delivery, infection of the newborn baby or even stillbirth.
