Publix ties for favorite grocery chain in America, according to survey
Now the rest of the country knows it too: Publix is the top grocery store chain in the country.
But Trader Joe’s did rank first in one category – the most courteous cashiers. This is the second consecutive year that Wegmans has held the top spot in the annual study after unseating long-running favorite Trader Joe’s in 2016. Trader Joe’s opened in DeWitt in 2014.
Publix finished second for the last four years. Rounding out the top five were H-E-B, ALDI and Harris Teeter.
Customers said they liked Publix because the chain makes it easy to find items and has clean stores and fast checkout lines.
Publix tied for first place nationwide overall with New York-based Wegman’s, which is known for its fresh produce, reasonable prices, massive stores, and specialty department service. ALDI once again led for value, followed by WinCo Foods and Costco.
The 12,700-person study was done by Market Force, a company focused on consumer experience.
Participants in the online survey ranked the stores based on a Customer Loyalty Index, according to a press release.
