The Medical Examiner’s Office in Wayne County, Michigan, announced Thursday that Cornell’s cause of death was suicide by hanging. It has also been reported that Cornell’s remains will be transported from MI back to Los Angeles sometime on Sunday.
Singer-songwriter Jewel Kilcher, better known as Jewel, shared her thoughts Friday on the death of fellow singer Chris Cornell, who was found dead in his hotel room this week at the age of 52.

In a separate statement, Cornell’s wife, Vicky Cornell, also said the medication may have played a role in his death. He is one of three people that made me want to be a singer. So, I just wanted to say to Chris, I love you wherever you are.
Cornell’s widow said in her statement that she did not believe he “intentionally” committed suicide. “The family believes that if Chris took his life, he did not know what he was doing, and that drugs or other substances may have affected his actions”.
