Here comes Pippa: Britain’s almost-royal wedding on the way

The last time Charlotte and George were seen in public was in December attending church with their parents over Christmas in Berkshire, where the wedding will take place. Surveillance vans, security cameras, and scores of police officers are on the scene.

It’s less than 24 hours until Pippa Middleton and James Matthew say “I do” in the society wedding of the year, and speculation is mounting over the bride’s dress, ring, flowers and guests.

Pippa Middleton’s wedding is going down on May 20, and if you’re wondering whether or not there’s a theme, the answer is hell yes there is.

It was Pippa’s derriere that brought her to the attention of the world in 2011 when a television audience estimated in the billions, already transfixed by Kate and William’s fairytale wedding, reacted to the sight of Miss Middleton. That means while his actress girlfriend Meghan Markle has an access-all-areas pass to Kensington Palace, her pull with Pippa only extends to a party nod.

Around 100 guests will watch Middleton marry her millionaire fiance in the attractive 12th century St Mark’s Church in Englefield, a village located in Berkshire, a county in the south of England.

Janice Clayton travelled from Merseyside with hopes of spotting the royal family along with Meghan Markle, Prince Harry’s girlfriend.

It has been confirmed that Prince George, third in line to the throne behind his father, William, and grandfather, Prince Charles, will be a page boy, and his sister, Princess Charlotte, will perform the duty of bridesmaid.

Any other high-profile guests?

Matthews’ brother Spencer, who is famous in his own right for being on the United Kingdom reality show Made in Chelsea, is reportedly going to be best man. He also penned a book about his sexploits and has reportedly beaten a steroid addiction. His younger brother is Spencer Matthews of “made of Chelsea” fame.

Even though the elder royals, including the Queen and Prince Charles, won’t be in attendance, attempts to make it as private an affair is possible-the guest list runs to just 150, a far cry from the 1,900 who attended Kate and William’s nuptials-are likely to prove largely futile.

Hundreds of thousands joined the “Pippa Middleton Ass Appreciation Society” on Facebook, which six years on retains almost 200,000 enthusiastic members.

The bookies’ favourite is Giles Deacon, who has been spotted visiting the Middleton family home in the lead-up to the big day.

How much is this all costing?

Kate’s four young bridesmaids each wore ballerina-length dresses using the same fabric as Kate’s wedding gown, adorned with a pale gold sash made of wild silk.

“It’s been a insane couple of years since my sister’s wedding but it’s had its upsides and downsides and I just feel really fortunate to be able to build a career as a writer”, she said a year after her sister’s wedding.

The guests won’t have to worry about the unpredictable British weather after it was revealed they will party inside a glass marquee worth upwards of $A175,000, which was imported from Belgium. According to BBC Weather, Saturday will start dry, before “sunshine and showers, some heavy and thundery with hail”.
