Jeb: Trump Needs To Fire ‘Disloyal’ Staffers
“I think we need a special counsel, and I don’t [think] the president should tweet”, Bush told attendees here at the Salt Conference at the Bellagio casino hotel’s conference center on the Las Vegas Strip.
“When I ran for office, I said he is a chaos candidate and would be a chaos president”, Bush said.
A top White House official fired back at Jeb Bush on Friday after the former GOP presidential rival said that “chaos” was dominating President Trump’s tenure.
Bush’s immigration position in large part led to his embarrassing loss to Trump-who bashed him as “low energy” during the campaign. “I don’t want to diminish that because that is an important tool that presidents now have”, he added.
But there is a remedy to alleviate pressure on the White House, the former GOP frontrunner said.
“I’ve never seen a White House as leaky as this one”, he said.
But Bush warned that Trump’s tweetstorms give “our enemies all sorts of nuances and insights” into the mind of the commander in chief.
While Bush praised the administration’s selection of Neil Gorsuch as Supreme Court justice, he said that the appointment of former FBI Director Robert Mueller as special counsel on the Russian Federation investigation may straighten out the new administration.
Bush made his initial “chaos” comment during a Republican primary debate in December 2015, in which he also said Trump was “great at one-liners”.
He lambasted the president and his team of “over-age white guys” authoring the health care bill, saying that more diverse input would prevent “stupid mistakes”, CNN notes.
