Lin-Manuel Miranda cast in Disney’s upcoming ‘DuckTales’ revival
Disney is giving Lin-Manuel Miranda a chance to have some adventures in Duckburg, and he is not throwing away his shot.
Actor Lin-Manuel Miranda greets spectators after taking part in his last performance with Hamilton in New York July 9, 2016.
Miranda is reportedly a lifelong “DuckTales” fan. In this updated take on the character, Fenton’s everyday identity won’t be an accountant, but a brilliant young intern to Scrooge’s very own mad scientist, Gyro Gearloose (god, we love these ridiculous names). “In developing the new series, Matt and I leapt at the opportunity to adapt “DuckTales” marquee hero into a young scientist character with Latin-inspired roots”, added co-producer and story editor Francisco Angone about how this new version of Gizmoduck will be portrayed.
“His rapid-fire earnestness paired with his wide-eyed yet determined optimism made him the ideal person to yell ‘BLATHERING BLATHERSKITE!'” said executive producer Matt Youngberg.
DuckTales debuts this summer on Disney XD and has already been picked up for a second season in advance of its premiere.
Do you think Miranda is a good addition to the series? “His rapid-fire earnestness paired with his wide-eyed yet determined optimism made him the flawless person to yell ‘BLATHERING BLATHERSKITE!'”
In addition the Miranda the cast will include stage veterans David Tennant (Richard II) and Danny Pudi (Found) as well as Ben Schwartz, Bobby Moynihan, Tony Anselmo, Kate Micucci, Beck Bennett, and Toks Olagundoye.
