Liverpool to replace Moreno with Sessegnon
Reports claim Liverpool fear Tottenham and Chelsea will hijack their summer moves for two key defensive reinforcements in Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Sessegnon.
According to the ECHO, Sessegnon “pre-agreed his first professional contract” with Fulham before the beginning of the season which will be activated on July 1.
Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon is also on the radar, but it has been claimed that the Merseyside giants will only turn their attention to the England Under-19 worldwide if they fail in their bid to land Mendy.
The teenager has been with Fulham since he was just nine-years-old and has established himself in the first team after progressing through the youth ranks while he has also represented England at several youth levels.
Jose Mourinho needs to strengthen his options at left-back as Luke Shaw has failed to win-over the United boss and Sessegnon would be a long-term solution for the Manchester giants. He has provided hope to these clubs by admitting last month he would be open to leaving Leipzig this summer.
The Reds intend to sell Alberto Moreno, who has struggled for minutes on the pitch this season, as part of their summer clearout and will look to provide better competition for James Milner on the left side of defence.
However despite Liverpool’s long-standing interest it is thought Sessegnon could still be tempted if Spurs were to firm up their interest with the possibility of staying in London attractive to the player.
Another name heavily linked with Jurgen Klopp’s men is Hull City left-back Andrew Robertson but the Liverpool Echo understands that any move is “unlikely”.
Fulham are understandably desperate to keep hold of Sessegnon but their hopes have faded after being beaten by Reading in their promotion play-off on Tuesday night.
