One question prosecutors are facing is whether money Flynn received to advance Turkish interests influenced his decisions during the transition and his short term as national security adviser.

Donald Trump’s former nat sec adviser Michael Flynn, whom POTUS misses deeply, was considered an ally by Russian officials during the 2016 campaign, CNN reported Friday night.

One major concern for Obama administration officials was the subject of conversations between Flynn and Kislyak that took place shortly after Obama slapped new sanctions on Russian Federation for meddling in the election.

Flynn was caught speaking to Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak in a December phone call that eventually led to his forced resignation just 24 days into his role as National Security Adviser.

Though those close to Flynn and Trump maintain that it is their cozy friendship which has caused such extreme loyalty from President Trump, it seems clear that something else is at work here. “That conversation, and another one two days later between Mr. Flynn’s lawyer and transition lawyers, shows that the Trump team knew about the investigation of Mr. Flynn far earlier than has been previously reported“, it said. Today, the Department of Justice named former FBI Director Robert Mueller to be special counsel investigating Russian efforts to influence the us presidential election.

Sources say Flynn also told Kislyak that the incoming Trump administration would revisit United States sanctions on Russian Federation once in office.

A White House adviser told Politico that even after Trump chose to fire Flynn, the president speculated two days later about the possibility of reversing his decision.

Six of the new contacts are attributed to Flynn.

But it makes it harder for President Trump to claim he was not attempting to obstruct justice by firing his FBI Director Jim Comey. McGahn is now the White House counsel.

Flynn, according to two sources familiar with the dinner, revealed that Trump was not only still in touch with him, but also sending him support.

Since he resigned, Flynn – who denies wrongdoing – has retained a lawyer and offered to testify in exchange for immunity from prosecution.

Michael Ledeen, an associate of Flynn, told the website that the retired general was reluctant to join the Trump administration.

Veterans of previous election campaigns said some contact with foreign officials during a campaign was not unusual, but the number of interactions between Trump aides and Russian officials and others with links to Putin was exceptional.
