Marcus Rashford Will Get Better Warns Jesse Lingard
It was Rashford’s 11th goal of the season and gives United a giant leap towards not just the final in Stockholm on May 24, but ticket for next season’s Champions League.
Despite the victory coach Jose Mourinho was frustrated with his side’s inability to take their chances and knows there is still a job to do in the return leg at Old Trafford next week. And of course this isn’t just about winning silverware as the victor of the Europa League gets a spot in the UEFA Champions League next season.
“After the goal, [Jose] Mourinho’s got a lot of experience and he just tells his players ‘game’s over, game’s finished, 1-0, we’re not going to play any more football tonight, “‘ Guidetti said. But it remains to be seen whether all of them would get to play on Thursday.
The difference on the night came through young Rashford, who netted with a well-taken free-kick in the second half against Eduardo Berizzo’s men. He’s scored major goals for United and again he got the important goal in Vigo.
“They are a good team, they can play, they have good players”.
Pending other results, United could find themselves inside the top four by the round’s end.
He worked really hard and caused them problems. “He had a fantastic shot in the first half that (produced) a lovely save”, added Mourinho.
“Then the free-kick is work – he works every day, he loves to work”. The goalkeeper made a little movement and with the speed of the ball it was impossible to save. “In the first half we were disadvantaged and in the second we were better”. “So let’s hope that they want it”.
“It’s Old Trafford, it’s their home they should be going and dominating us”. This is a great opportunity for United as they would looking forward to taking that lead in this first leg of the fixture.
