Macron Cooly Ignores Trump Just Long Enough to Make It Uncomfortable
Trump met the newly-elected French President Emmanuel Macron right before the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit on Thursday and the meeting offered a sneak peek into how the US-French relations may pan out in future.
President Donald Trump is at the Vatican to meet with Pope Francis, the famously humble pontiff with whom he has publicly clashed.

A White House summary of the meeting did not mention climate change but said President Trump had urged France to meet the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation target of spending 2% of GDP on defence and to ensure that North Atlantic Treaty Organisation was focused on counter-terrorism.
Later at North Atlantic Treaty Organisation headquarters Macron was the last to turn up for the opening of the alliance’s new headquarters and found himself again shaking hands.
As Macron approached Trump, he made a swift route-change and instead greeted German Chancellor Angela Merkel, which Trump took umbrage with.
After raising her concerns with Trump at a meeting on the sidelines of the G7 meeting, she said she had been reassured that he found the leaks unacceptable and that the Manchester police were again cooperating with the United States.
