Chris Cornell Laid to Rest at Private Los Angeles Funeral
Eulogies were delivered by the likes of Josh Brolin, Tom Morello, and Jeff Ament.
Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington performed Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah. Following the services, mourners headed to Cornell’s final resting place in the Garden of Legends section of Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
As mourners exited the funeral, Temple of the Dog’s “All Night Thing” played in the background. Cornell was cremated at a far more low-key event on Tuesday. Attendees were greeted with a program declaring “We are neighbors in a modern world where proximity is relative and the threshold to our hearts moves outside time and space.” and saw a gravestone marked as “Voice as our generation and an artist for all time“.
Cornell’s ashes were reportedly placed next to his friend Johnny Ramone’s remains.
Cornell’s widow Vicky and his three children were among hundreds who gathered at the open-air ceremony.
The musician’s family has said they object to the medical examiner’s categorization of his death as a suicide since toxicology reports are not yet complete. The singer then tried to change the topic to something that didn’t make sense and his wife started getting concerned. “Your children know that too, so you can rest in peace”. “You don’t sound right, sweetheart”, Karayiannis said.
“When he told me he may have taken an extra Ativan or two, I contacted security and asked that they check on him. I’m really pissed and I had to calm myself down”.
Earlier this week, Chris’ attorney Kirk Pasich said: “Vicky is a very strong person”.
Mrs Cornell has previously indicated that the star might have taken a higher dose of an anti-anxiety drug than he was prescribed.
