Derek Fisher After Crash, DUI Arrest: I’m Grateful No One Was Injured
During the investigation, officers “discovered” Fisher had been drinking and he was arrested for DUI without incident, the CHP said.
SHERMAN OAKS Former Los Angeles Laker and New York Knicks head coach Derek Fisher was reported free Monday after his vehicle overturned on the 101 Freeway in Sherman Oaks, prompting his arrest on suspicion of drunken driving.
Splash News caught up to Fisher and his girlfriend, Gloria Govan, as they were retrieving their vehicle from a valet outside Leo & Lily restaurant in Los Angeles.
“We are beyond grateful that we are both OK and no one else was involved, ” Fisher and Govan said in a joint statement Sunday, according to ESPN. “So from here just focusing on the positives of being here”. The statement also thanked their supporters for thoughts and prayers.

Neither Fisher nor his passenger, former “Basketball Wives” star Gloria Govan, was injured, according to the California Highway Patrol.
On Saturday morning, Fisher got slapped with a DUI after overturning his vehicle in the Sherman Oaks area of Los Angeles while Govan was riding in the passenger seat.
Fisher played 13 of his 20 years in the National Basketball Association with the Los Angeles Lakers. Fisher and Govan have been dating since October 2015, according to Bleacher Report.

The first season was the worst in franchise history with a 17-65 record, but the team played better early in the second season before Jackson fired Fisher last February with the Knicks in a 1-9 tailspin.
