MacBook vs. MacBook Pro: Which One Should Get Your $1300?
Apple Inc. upgraded most of its Mac computers on Monday, including a powerful new offering for professional users, showing renewed commitment to a product line that critics say it neglected amid lackluster growth.
Apart from packing a much faster processor, Apple has also revealed that the solid state drives (SSDs) for the MacBook Pro 2017 are 50 percent faster as compared to those of the previous models of the device. For USD 20 a month, any T-Mobile One customer with AutoPay can add a new iPad Pro to their existing plan.
The 13-inch MacBook Pro will be starting at $1,299 with 2.3GHz dual-core Core i5 processor, 8GB of memory and 128GB of SSD.
Each of the four 16 second videos start with a tweet from a user who either writes about the iPad Pro itself or a situation where an iPad Pro would be useful.
Of course, the star of show – at least as it pertains to the Mac – was Apple’s iMac Pro.
Milanesi, who dubbed the iMac Pro “a beast” and graded the Mac line-up as the strongest ever for this time of the year, agreed that the new systems would turn around the negative narrative that had built up since last fall. Our personal preference is that you purchase the smaller version since it features the same hardware as its larger counterpart and possesses enough screen real estate to help transform into a workable notebook substitute and a device that’s fit for media consumption. Bridging the rather large gap between 2016’s iPad Pro 9.7 and the iPad Pro 12.9, the iPad Pro 10.5 replaces the 9.7-incher with a slight redesign and a big bump in specs. The iMac Pro, however, doubles the amount of Thunderbolt 3 ports and improves the Ethernet port to deliver up to 10Gbps connection.
Early benchmark results of the new MacBook Pro with Intel’s Kaby Lake family of processors indicate significant performance gains over last year’s models with the same configuration on Intel’s Skylake chips. For GPUs, the 21-inch iMac model will move to the Radeon Pro 555 and 560, while the 27-inch version will get the 570, 575, or 580 models. Tell us your thoughts down in the comments right away.
Multi-tasking has also been redesigned with both apps staying active in Slide Over and Split View formats, a new Files app will bring all your documents and files together from your iPad to your iCloud and services like Dropbox, and there is an all-new Dock too for favourite and recently used apps and files.
