Everton complete signing of Malaga striker Sandro Ramirez
Everton are set to complete their third signing of the summer after reportedly closing a deal for Malaga striker Sandro Ramirez, taking their spending past the £60m mark following the completion of deals for Jordan Pickford and Davy Klaassen.
Times correspondent Paul Joyce claims the 21-year-old striker undertook a medical with the Merseysiders last weekend.
Whilst the general consensus in the Spanish media is that Sandro has received assurances about his Everton role, with Romelu Lukaku vacating a position, it’s not just that which has swung the signing for Ronald Koeman.
Sandro was one of Malaga’s top performers last term, scoring 16 goals in 31 league and cup games, as well as providing five assists.
The 21-year-old’s performances in La Liga during the 2016-17 campaign have resulted in interest around Europe, despite having only moved from Barcelona last summer.
Asked about his future earlier in June, including that release clause, the Spain Under-21 worldwide told the Spanish press: It’s true that I have a low clause, but right now I am still a Malaga player and I want to focus on the national team.
Joyce’s message on Twitter will come as music to Everton fans’ ears as he is known as a very reliable source of information on the Merseyside clubs. He was tracked by Atletico Madrid, but with reports of Fernando Torres close to a contract extension and the club chasing Chelsea frontman Diego Costa, Sandro was pushed to the Premier League.
