Body found on beach in North Wildwood, NJ

Authorities in North Wildwood are seeking help from the public to identify the body of a man who washed ashore on Sunday night.

The body of a man believed to be in his early 20s was found dead on the beach on Sunday around 9 p.m., the North Wildwood Police Department said in a statement.

No obvious signs of trauma were seen on the body when it was found, police said. The results of an autopsy are pending.

The victim is between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8 and weighs anywhere from 160 to 180 pounds. Police said he has short black hair with no tattoos and a 1-in. scar on his left shoulder.

North Wildwood police are investigating along with New Jersey State Police and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office.

Police have contacted all Cape May County police departments in addition to the United States Coast Guard and the New Jersey State Marine Unit for any reports of a missing person matching the description.
