BCCI Gives A Warning To Virat Kohli

Indian cricket finds itself embroiled in a crisis at the moment, following the embarrassing defeat to Pakistan in the 2017 Champions Trophy final with the public spat between captain Virat Kohli and coach Anil Kumble leading to the latter’s resignation. “And we all respect him totally”.

The 28-year old Delhi batsman said that he will not lose respect towards Kumble.

However, the Indian captain stayed away from revealing the exact details of the rift between him and Kumble.

Post this, Kohli also said that he and his players respect Kumble for his exemplary achievements for Team India.

It bears mentioning that the Indian team is now touring West Indies after they lost to Pakistan in a high-octane encounter of Champions Trophy final by a staggering 180 runs. As a result, despite India’s success in Kumble’s year in charge, during which the team climbed to No.1 in the Test rankings, the board advertised for fresh interviews for the head coach’s position instead of extending his contract.

While former captains like Bishan Bedi and Sunil Gavaskar have expressed sadness at the turn of events, several have been asking what happens if Kohli doesn’t like the next man. Kumble wanted India to bat first after winning the toss, but Kohli had a different opinion.

“I have always respected that and maintained that”. All the years that he has played.

“It was apparent the partnership [with Virat Kohli] was untenable, and I therefore believe it is best for me to move on”, he wrote in the tweet message.

The media had been rife with reports of Kohli’s lack of understanding between Kumble even at the start of the Champions Trophy. This is what left Kumble no choice but to resign despite of being a successful coach.

India are now in the West Indies and will play 5 ODIs and one T20 in the Carribean. I hated him! But stuck with him for 20 years.

The BCCI deputed M.V. Sridhar to supervise the team management for the Windies tour while Indian Premier League (IPL) Chairman Rajeev Shukla asserted on Wednesday that a new coach will be appointed before the Sri Lanka series next month.
