Bulls under impression Dwyane Wade will play in Chicago this season

Dwyane Wade opting in for next season likely doesn’t fit into that re-build.

The Chicago Bulls may not call what they are doing during the offseason rebuilding, but make no mistake, that’s just what executive vice president John Paxson and general manager Gar Forman are doing with a team that struggled during the regular season and lost in the first round of the playoffs.

Rondo is under contract for next season and is slated to make $13.4 million, but only $3 million of that money is guaranteed if he’s waived before June 30. The Bulls already had Rajon Rondo as the starter down the stretch, and they also had Cameron Payne and Jerian Grant on the roster. He was particularly close to young Heat players Justise Winslow, Josh Richardson and Tyler Johnson prior to his departure last summer. However, in the wake of the Butler trade, there has been speculation about a potential buyout. Thursday’s trade put the franchise’s previously stated plans completely in flux. We’re going to sit down with Bill and talk through [things]. The right veterans. The guys that are good teammates, are supportive of the young guys, and continue to teach them how to be pros. “But it’s only because I want to play and that’s just the competitive side of me”. At this stage of his career, I know he wants to try to play as long as he can and set up a future as a coach.

The Bulls have not made a decision yet on what to do with Rondo. He will be an unrestricted free agent.

Rondo would be a ideal in that role and the Bulls value him. Subsequently, there have been rumors that Chicago will look to buyout Wade’s contract.

“It would absolutely have to benefit us”. It would absolutely have to benefit us. “Dwyane showed nothing but professionalism around our young guys a year ago, so I feel pretty good about that”. “And after looking at each of the rookies and what they accomplished this year, Brogdon’s team making the playoffs had to be a big factor for numerous voters”. So right now we’re operating under the assumption that he’ll be here. It could be awhile before Markkanen develops, and in Dunn it’s uncertain if he had a bump in the road as a rookie or if the Bulls see something in him the Timberwolves failed to focus on.

The Chicago Bulls have introduced their three newest players.

“Believe me, I get pretty pissed off as anybody would”, Carter-Williams told the Chicago Tribune in February. “We’ve defined our direction and will make decisions based on our direction from this day forward”.
